Directors

Garth and Brett Mathews are the founders of Secure Parking and have pioneered the business in Sydney, Australia since 1979. Over the course of 25 years, the two brothers built Secure Parking into the largest Australian parking facility manager with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

What started off as a suggestion that could potentially earned him some extra money selling monthly parking spaces door-to-door in office buildings in the late 1970s turned out to be a multi-million dollar business. And the best part was Garth was not even aware of the money-making opportunities in parking facility management at that time. The then aspiring actor was busy with other things. He was taking acting classes during the day and driving a cab at night and his role model was Mel Gibson. Garth rubbed shoulders with the Hollywood star as an extra on the set of Gibson's early film Tim. But that's another story.

The success that Secure Parking enjoys today, however, is derived from the complementary skills the two brothers bring to the business, Garth said. As he put it, his own sales, marketing and operational skills are bolstered by Brett's financial and administration skills. Brett has a master's degree in economics and was formerly the general manager of a large packaging company.

Managing Director
(Edward K L Poh)

Edward Poh has been in the Malaysia parking scene since 1990. His 10 years of industry experience was strategically capitalised to steer Secure Parking from being just a “new kid on the block” in 1996 to be one of the market leaders today. He built the company from scratch and has successfully led the company to the path of profitability within a short space of time. Prior to running Secure Parking Malaysia, he gained international car park management experience through a stint in Secure Parking Indonesia in 1995 where he assisted in the management of car parks with 5,000 bays or more. Under his watch, Secure Parking’s business in Malaysia grew from zero to 84 car parks under management to date nationwide. He was elected the Vice-President of the newly formed Malaysian Parking Association in the year 2000.
